A warm hello.

I was wondering if you’d like to understand a little more about astrology, the terms we use and what they mean.   I will save this information into the ‘Learn More’ section of my website after this week, so you can refer back to it at any time and it will be easy to find.

What is a New Moon?

A New Moon is when the Sun and Moon are in the ‘same’ Zodiac Sign and the same degree of that Zodiac Sign i.e. in conjunction. (Because of their different orbits, they seem together when they’re actually in alignment.)   Hence the new Moon always falls in the Zodiac Sign we are in.   It represents new beginnings.   Astrologically, the tone of the Sign it falls in influences the new beginning e.g. an Aries new Moon will have quite a different energy to a Taurus New Moon.

A Solar Eclipse is an ‘exact’ new Moon – the Moon is between the Sun and the Earth and there is an exact alignment.   Astrologically, this has an intense energy.

What is a Full Moon?

There’s a Full Moon when the Moon is in the ‘opposite’ Zodiac Sign to the Sun and the same degree as the Sun.   Hence, when it is full, the Moon is on the opposite side of the Earth to the Sun i.e. when the Sun sets in the west, the Moon will rise in the east.   The Full Moon is always in the opposite Zodiac Sign to the one we are in.   When we are in Aries Zodiac time the Full Moon will fall in Libra; when we are in Taurus Zodiac time, the full Moon will fall in Scorpio, and so on.    Astrologically, the Full Moon signifies a strong energy and represents emotions, situations and plans coming to a head; it can be exciting or challenging.   However, an Aries Full Moon will have a different tone to a Taurus or Cancer full Moon; Full Moons aren’t all the same.

A Lunar eclipse is an ‘exact’ Full Moon: the Sun, Earth and Moon are in an exact alignment.   Astrologically the energy is intense.

What is a waxing Moon?

The Moon’s waxing cycle begins on the New Moon and ends at the full Moon.   It is a cycle of growth.

What is a waning Moon?

The Moon’s waning cycle begins on the Full Moon and ends on the New Moon.   It is a cycle of consolidation or retraction.

I hope you find this helpful and useful.   If you have any questions or matters you would like to know more about please let me know.

Wishing you joy,

Karen

A warm hello.

Two heavy weights of the zodiac, Uranus and Pluto, are in square this week and there’s a solar eclipse.

This signifies tensions, dramas but also big changes, important things happening for you or around you and turning-points.   Go peacefully and see the big picture, to respond positively to the challenges of this time and to make the most of sudden, unexpected opportunities.

Wishing you joy,

Karen

A warm hello,

The planet Mercury moves into Pisces this week for a transit that will last till the end of the month.

Mercury is the planet of communication:

ARIES.   You’ll be talking about family issues, commitments or domestic undertakings and learning as you go.     To make progress with an old upset or persistent frustration with another, you’ll need to work through a deep-seated misunderstanding.   Things you’ve wanted but haven’t felt free to say will bubble to the surface; choose your words carefully.

TAURUS.   Friendly discussions will sow the seeds of fun new friendships or foster advantageous connections.

GEMINI.   Expressing your ideas with a challenging professional undertaking will be an opportunity to make your mark.

CANCER.   An open exchange with someone interstate or overseas will bridge the distance between you.

LEO. Financial discussions will raise issues it’s important to learn more about.   Conversations that explore the meaning of life will bring spiritual insights.

VIRGO.   Listening to other people’s ideas and opinions may sometimes test your restraint.

LIBRA.   Enlightening discussions about health matters will offer thought-provoking ideas and information.

SCORPIO.   Thoughtful exchanges with a child or grandchild will be a window into their world.

SAGITTARIUS.   A round-table family conference will be an opportunity to sort out a domestic or family endeavour.

CAPRICORN.   Listening to knowledgeable colleagues will bring a wealth of helpful advice with an exciting project.

AQUARIUS.   Talking about money matters will bring timely news or information.

PISCES.   Initiating discussions and leading the way with personal exchanges, to raise issues and say things that are on your mind, will bring revelations.

Wishing you joy,

Karen
